Product · Artivation Dictionary

A dictionary for any language,
built by AI, just for you.

Artivation Dictionary (formerly AI Dictionary) is a dictionary app that lets you build your own AI dictionaries for the language combinations you want to learn. Choose from 65 languages and add as many as you need: bilingual dictionaries like Japanese–English or English–German, monolingual ones like English–English, and glossaries for Japanese, science and social studies. Available on the web and iOS.

Positioning

Don’t pick a dictionary.
Build one.

Paper dictionaries and dictionary apps alike made you choose from the language pairs they offered. With Artivation Dictionary, just pick your native language and the language you’re learning, and an AI dictionary for that pair is ready instantly. German after English, Vietnamese for work, science terms for your kids — add a dictionary each time you start learning something new. It was the first AI product Artivation planned, built and released after our founding, and we keep improving it.

Dictionaries

Three kinds of dictionaries.

Bilingual

Look up the language you’re learning in your native language

Choose an explanation language and a target language, such as Japanese–English, Japanese–German or English–German. It detects the search direction from what you type, so you can look up words from either side.

Monolingual

Look up and explain in a single language

Like English–English, German–German or Japanese–Japanese: look up and get explanations in the same language. Ideal for advanced learners and for grasping nuance.

Glossary

Look up terms from school subjects

Clear explanations of terms from Japanese language arts, science and social studies, in the language you choose. Useful for Japanese vocabulary and for preparing and reviewing lessons.

Choose from 65 languages, including Japanese, English, German, French, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Arabic and Hindi. You can add up to 50 dictionaries per account, and reorder your favorites to switch between them instantly.

How it works

Your own dictionary in three steps.

Step 01Create a dictionaryJust choose the type and languages and tap “Add.” Set your native language once and it becomes the default for new dictionaries.
Step 02Look up and go deeperBeyond contextual meanings, synonyms, pronunciation and example sentences, AI explains etymology, usage differences and nuance in plain prose.
Step 03RememberWords you look up stay in your history and can be organized into folders and files. Review them with tests narrowed to the range you choose.
Use cases

Use cases

Learn several languages at once

Create a dictionary for each language you’re learning — English and German, Chinese and Korean — and switch with a single tap.

Reading, writing, speaking, listening

Check a word’s nuance in prose, find close expressions from your native language, or guess spellings from what you heard.

For work or study abroad

Dealing with overseas partners or local staff, or preparing to study or move abroad — create a dictionary for whatever language you need, on the spot.

For schoolwork

Use the glossaries for Japanese language arts, science and social studies to understand the meaning and background of words in textbooks.
